Are You Living?

Great Ra’sing Readers! Let’s abundant our day for ourselves and our family. May our work and intentions be our prayer for good for ourselves and our family. May we continue to be grateful for life which gives us another day to heal, celebrate, smile, laugh, and do the desires of our hearts.

Readers, how was your weekend? I hope it was good and full of positive memories. I’m really trying to write this blog today. I’m actually lost for words not knowing what to to really say. But I’ll let my hands do the talking as I type. My weekend was bittersweet with mixed emotions. My city, Buffalo, NY endured a mass shooting in Tops grocery stores. Not only that, there were two separate shooting incidents followed by the mass shootout on the same day. I’m pretty sure you heard it on the news repeatedly and/or read it in the newspaper or maybe learned from others.

The shooting has caused a lot of fear among civilians in my hometown. We continue to be killed because of the color of our skin. I don’t understand why we can’t get an anti-hate bill. Every other race gets an anti-hate bill without a problem, but when it comes to us, it’s a huge problem! I just don’t understand how this world works and why we’re hated so much. It’s unbelievable! That’s all I have to say about that situation. I don’t want to feed into the energy of fear and intimidation. This is why I don’t watch the NEWS, because they do a great job in causing fear among civilians. I pray for the families of the 10 that are deceased and the three who survived as well as those who were there in the store working and/or shopping. Their lives will never be the same.

The next day after the incident I had to model for the fashion show. It was not what I expected. There were too many last minute changes. However, I learned that in life you’ll have to make last minute changes for something to work out. I was also reminded to stop doing for people that you should be doing for yourself! And also to stop doing for others that can do for themselves! Why put in the work for someone that don’t want to put in the work for themselves? Remember life is what you make it.

After finishing several projects over the weekend for other people, I decided this was it. I have to stand my ground and put myself first. And that’s not selfish at all. I refused to allow people to make me feel guilty for doing so. Besides what’s the purpose of life if you’re not living? When are you going to start living? Don’t say until things start going well for you. You have to create the moment or else you’ll lose the opportunity.

I challenge each of you to ask yourself, “Am I living?” If not what are you waiting for? Take steps to protect yourself and your family. Take steps to putting yourself first, it’s all a part of self care. Stay safe! Love and Light!
