Great Ra’sing Readers! How was everyone’s weekend? Hopefully it was a productive one. Let’s abundant our day for ourselves and our family. May our work and intentions be our prayer for good for ourselves and our family. May we continue to express gratitude for our life as we celebrate, smile, laugh, and whatever our heart desires. So mote it be.
Today is the day I will be advocating for my son to return home from boarding school. He doesn’t want to stay there until August which I totally understand. I’ll be asking for him to return home in June when school is out so he can enjoy his summer. I’m not too fond of court, because I’ve dealt with court while I was in foster care permanency review, divorce court, mental health court for clients, etc. I’m tired of court. I just want to be done with it.
I hope this will be a lesson for my son that it’s not a good feeling at all to have someone preside over his life. I also hope that he will learn to maintain his self control. It’s a necessity especially with so much going on in this world.
Life doesn’t come with a parenting manual. Everyone have their own parenting style and some may need to switch up. Why? So their child can be responsive to their authority. Every child is different. He just happened to be one of my challenging child who is very open minded and curious about a lot of things. It’s a good thing, but boundaries must be in place to keep him safe. I still want him to enjoy his teen years, but I care more for his safety. Why? Because he’s a growing young black male.
This may be an uncomfortable topic for many in which blacks are still being killed for the color of their skin. I don’t understand why we are hated so much. But I refused to live in fear. I don’t even want my children to live in fear either.
Racism is so loud and ugly. I challenge each of you to think about what can you do to make the world a better and safe place. Remember we all have children and they deserve to have a good childhood. Also remember hate is a learned behavior. Take a look at how you conduct yourself around your children and others. Love and light!
